Don’t miss the premiere of Homefront 911: Military Family Monologues in Portland, OR August 5, 2011

Karen Spears Zacharias to Host National Premiere of HOMEFRONT 911 August 5, 2011

The script is chilling. “This is truth-telling at its disturbingly best. It ought to be a mandatory performance at every sporting event, every church service, and every noon hour at the Capital Rotunda,” said author and Gold Star daughter Karen Spears Zacharias, who will host a town hall discussion after the national premiere of Homefront 911: Military Family Monologues in Portland, OR, Friday, August 5th.  Spears Zacharias’ father was killed-in-action Vietnam, 1966. Her books include After the Flag Has Been Folded and Will Jesus Buy Me a Double-Wide? She serves on the national advisory board for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Education Center, along with Retired Army General Barry McCaffrey and General Colin Powell.  Spears Zacharias remarked, “The American public does a much better job of honoring our soldiers and our military families than they ever did during my father’s war. Still, the sacrifices made by our military and their family members is often shamefully disregarded and woefully waved aside by a nation more preoccupied with Casey Anthony’s freedom than their own.”

The national premiere of Homefront 911 is Friday, August 5th at 7:30 p.m. at The Old Church, 1422 S.W. 11th Avenue, Portland, Oregon.   The event is open to the public with a sliding-scale suggested donation of $5-25. Tickets available at www.showtix4u.com or at the door, cash or checks only.  Homefront 911 is a project of The Sanctuary for Veterans & Families 501c3, in partnership with the Returning Veterans Project.
