‘Alice Bliss’ Author Laura Harrington to speak at Flint Memorial Library Sept. 13

Laura Harrington, author of the novel “Alice Bliss,” is scheduled to speak at Flint Memorial Library, 147 Park St., at 7 p.m. on Sept. 13. Published in 2011, the novel tells the story of a young girl who lives in a small New York town and must learn to cope with her father’s deployment to Iraq. The coming-of-age novel was named one of the best books of summer 2011 by Entertainment Weekly. Harrington, who began her writing career in the theater, will discuss her work, which includes plays, librettos, operas, teleplays, screenplays, and lyrics. After the program, copies of the book will be available for signing. Sponsored by Friends of Flint Memorial Library, the event is free and open to the public. Registration is requested.
